Things that delighted Deanna this week:
Attending Heather McMahan’s live stand-up show at The Pantages Theatre with the one and only Emily Freda Foster! We had a hell of a night. Pre-show drinks at Hollywood’s historic Frolic Room. Hard laughs at the show. A nightcap at the W Hotel - followed by a surprising late night Taco Bell run. (My go-to struggle meal throughout my 20’s was the Meximelt. It has been discontinued) (Tough blow but great night).
Working with Spotify’s - French Cafe Lounge playing in the background. A choice inspired by
and. They are gearing up to spend a week living like French girls at It’s Always Something.Madewell’s Harlow Wide-Leg Pant! Tried them on and yelped “I LOVE THEM” from the dressing room. I was in the market for an elevated non-jean that was relaxed enough for everyday. I purchased the Harlow in deep indigo and smokey grape (thank you Black Friday sale). Going to be organizing my personality around these pants. Stay tuned.
Making headway with the peel and stick bathroom wallpaper project. It’s trickier than meets the eye. Pro-tip: keep a hairdryer nearby to smooth out wrinkles.
Beautiful anniversary flowers.
Having my iCloud issue escalated to the Apple engineers. After hours of troubleshooting and multiple senior advisors, it was time. Staying in prayer it will be resolved by early next week.
But wait, there’s MORE CORE!
We are both fascinated and delighted by this Teen Vogue article that recommends fashion trends based on your zodiac sign.
Bless the person doing the WORK at Teen Vogue, because if you search Zodiac Sign there is plenty to find like: How to Masturbate by Zodiac Sign, Best College Major, Beige Flags, and even what “It” bag to buy. BUT, coming up with a fashion trend for each sign sounds like a challenge we are glad someone else took on.
Libra Emily learned her style to try is Indie Sleaze aka every moms school pickup dream lewk! Deanna’s is balletcore. Based on research, Deanna’s new pants in smokey grape may qualify. More on balletcore below. And apparently, this is our half-sleaze, half-ballet lovechild. And we’re not mad at it.
Here is the breakdown by zodiac sign. We must know - does you’re “core style” appeal to your personality AT ALL?
Aries: The weird aesthetic
“It’s important to wear clothing that speaks to your wild, eclectic, and sparky nature.”
Taurus: Plazacore
“Eloise from Eloise at The Plaza is your fashion guru this year — making haute couture, tweed, skirt suits, and a small patent Telfar bag some of your go-to items while you attend high tea.”
Gemini: Dark Academia
“Argyle sweater vests, striped ties, button down shirts, duffle coats, Mary Jane shoes, and a briefcase — in muted and subdued colors, of course.”
Cancer: Athleisure
“Comfort is your ultimate aesthetic.”
Leo: Barbiecore
“Hopefully, you will find a convertible pink dress that elevates your casual attire to a gown! Here’s wishing!”
Virgo: The Clean Aesthetic
“Your personal motto is “cleanliness is next to godliness.” More on the Clean Girl Aesthetic here.
Libra: Indie Sleaze
“Vintage concert tee shirts with a plaid mini skirt, motorcycle coat, ripped tights, and Converse low tops for a simple evening out.”
Scorpio: Goth
“Keep it classic with your oversized black trench coat, corsets, and platform shoes.”
Sagittarius: Cabincore
“Hefty flannel shirts in an array of different colors, quilted jackets with varying prints, corduroy pants or jeans, warm socks that slightly peak out, along with a wool beanie in a contrasting color will set the mood.”
Capricorn: Bloomcore
“Bold floral printed sweaters, Fair Isle sweaters, mushroom intarsia vests, combat boots, wicker baskets, and crystal necklaces”
Aquarius: Cybercore
“Being forward thinking by nature can help reinvent this Y2K look with pleather or vinyl dresses, sheer printed shirts, and cool chokers.”
Pisces: Balletcore
We get it — ballerina vibes, right?
What is the Balletcore aesthetic?
It’s an ultra feminine, layered, relaxed look pulling from elements that you would find in a classic ballet ensemble. You should be able to move freely! Whether you are curled up by the fireplace or leaping across the street — balletcore will move with you.

Celebrity stylist, Tanya Tamburin tells InStyle it's "everything from tulle skirts to soft satin tops, bodysuits, wrap-tops and cardigans, leg warmers paired with skirts or over leggings and, of course, ballet flats." Essentially, the aesthetic is comprised of anything feminine and comfortable that allows you to move freely, like a dancer. And, as personal stylist Soneca Guadara tells us, "it's glamour meets cozy.
Deanna Reflects: I believe if I paired my smokey grape wide leg pants with a bodysuit, flats and some sort of sweater wrap situation I could lay claim to a balletcore moment.
What is the Indie Sleaze aesthetic?
Apparently, indie sleaze has everything to do with the original hipster who would never actually refer to themselves that way. Mismatched thrift store vibes, deep v-necks, and all things American Apparel.
Emily Reacts: I was ready to say this vibe has nothing to do with me, until I realized I lived it, rocked, and maybe in a midlife crisis it will all come crashing back? Here’s to hoping!
What delighted you this week? What Zodiac style are on “on paper” and what do you wish was your style? Cabincore, duh! US TOO. Let us know in the comments below.
Thank you for the shoutout! I’m day one into my ‘oui oui week’ and I had the most glorious French breakfast ever. (Although I ordered it.) And I must get the Harlow pants! And finally, I’m a Libra but I’m on the cusp, and the clean aesthetic goes much better with my new French lifestyle, so I’m going to try that!
Barbiecore for us Leos is so fitting! I'll be waiting on my PR box from Valentino. 😂
