Today is my birthday and every year I think THIS is the year I’m going to start wearing makeup. Spoiler, it’s not, however that year probably should have been 10 years ago. So when I recently asked my daughter’s 20-something babysitter what trends she was into and she said the clean girl aesthetic, my eyes went wide. Well, that sounds like me! I’m your ultimate clean girl (woman) who has truly owned more Mr. Clean Magic Erasers in my life than makeup brushes. My epidermis is clean!
But not so fast. A quick search crushed my dreams of thinking that doing less than nothing was cool — and that yours truly was unknowingly crushing it. Contrary to my assumption, the clean girl aesthetic is WORK to look like you did nothing. Between us, it’s exactly this sort of thing that makes me mad - like beach hair, and expensive ripped jeans, and if we are being truthful with one another I suppose Magic Erasers could also fall into this category.
