Summer is here and that means hot sweaty nights filled with spray tans, feathered lashes, ornamental hair jewelry, aggressive contour, freckle pens, lust and of course heartbreak.

This is my second year recapping Love Island USA with Amy Phillips for her podcast Drama, Darling. This isn’t your run of the mill show-a-week recap. New episodes air, on Peacock, EVERY NIGHT except for Wednesdays. The experience is like no other because it feels like you are in Fiji with these people and experiencing it in real-ish time. And just like last year, I’ve gone from rolling my eyes to jonesing for my nightly hit.

Last night’s episode featured special guest host Megan Thee Stallion. Megan rolled up delivering my favorite episode to date. She’s clearly a Love Island super-fan and OMG is she fun.

Megan hocked her swimsuit line, her tequila brand: Chicas Divertidas and ran a twerk challenge. Her appearance was a 10 out of 10 — nailed it. It’s S7, E15 if you just want to try an episode on for size.

Meanwhile, how can all these girls twerk like that?! Cheeks were going in every direction. Is this part of some new curriculum? Like common core math? Confession, after the episode, I marched myself into the bathroom, dropped my drawers and tried to get some movement going. Came up relatively empty, unfortch.

So many of the terms we’ve learned here on the ‘stack were being used by the islanders in general conversation. I call it “internet speak,” but I guess if you are twenty-three it’s just called good old-fashioned — language? Let’s review the island’s trends and terms. Plus, since Emily and I put our Summer Check List together I’ve been crossing things off! More on that below!
