In the two weeks post Gypsy Rose being released from prison, it feels like she’s everywhere. And the youth are having some real big feelings about it! (Almost as big as Jodi Foster’s feelings about Gen Z. More on that below!)
Here’s a quick Gypsy recap if perhaps you’ve been asleep at the wheel! (no shade).
Gypsy Rose Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder of her mother Dee Dee, and she served 8 years of a 10-year sentence. Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen by proxy at the hands of her mother, and she has also candidly shared that she was sexually abused by her grandfather. As far as we can tell, there was not one adult in Gypsy Rose’s life that has done right by her.
She was released on Dec. 28th of 2023, and the now 32-year-old Gypsy Rose is on all social platforms — and doing every interview imaginable.
On the one hand, the media frenzy has its comforts — she looks healthy and seems happy, but it also feels deeply uncomfortable in the same way that you whisper, “aww, baby girl,” when you stumble upon an unfortunate Britney Spears social post.
While it’s clear that the world is interested to watch how Gypsy is going to build her post-jail identity, we realized that the youth are deeply invested in her story, and her re-entry to the world. Let’s get INTO it!
