One of the first questions asked when getting a manicure is round or square. Over the years, what has been more “in fashion” has bounced back and forth between the two. And, just like when you try a new part in your hair, it always feels strange to see that slight difference at the tips of your fingers.
But with gels, acrylics and nail art entering the scene what can be done to your precious digits suddenly knows no bounds. But - hard take - maybe it should know some bounds. Because sometimes a trend comes along — like this one — that just feels wrong, not right.
When coffin nails became a thing, did we try it? No. We wouldn’t necessarily describe them as cute or functional. But as we saw them running around town, did the nail style grow on us? Absolutely.
This new trend? Hard pass.
