During last week’s pod, Saying Yes to Reese Tessa and Flirting with Fashion, I confessed to Emily that Tashlandi, a beautiful-TikTok-youth, got a hold of me at 3am and influenced me into adding multiple items to cart including: Guru Nada Coconut & Peppermint Pulling Oil.
I’d love to walk you through my experience with these purchases and give an update on my oil pulling journey.
In Gen X news, a TikTok mom went viral for attempting to give up her black eyeliner easier said than done. More on that in a bit —
Here are the things Tashlandi told me to buy in the middle of the night
Where are my double-cleanse girlies at?
Double cleansing is a K-Beauty technique that I’ve been practicing for about a year or so. But what exactly is a double cleanse you may be asking yourself? This is Cosmopolitan’s explanation :
“Double cleansing is exactly what it sounds like, cleansing your face twice with two different types of cleansers,” says Sharlena Hassani, celebrity esthetician and the founder of Artisan of Skin. “Usually, you’ll see people start with an oil-based cleanser and finish with a water-based cleanser.” Here's the deal: the best way to break down oil-based products, like makeup or sunscreen, is with an oil-based formula, and the same for water-based debris, like dirt, sweat, and grime, and a water-based cleanser. When you use both together, you make sure you get rid of everything.
If you wear sunblock ✋🏻 or oil based makeup you may want to consider it.
I ran out of my, very long lasting, Heimish - All Clean Balm (Korean brand) and was happy to try give Beauty of Joseon (also a Korean brand) a try. It’s a lovely product but I think I’m partial to the consistency of the balm and will go back to that when I finish the bottle.
Second up:
This product was a HUGE WIN thank you Tashlandi!
My go-to moisturizer has been the Skinfix Barrier + Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream. It’s an excellent moisturizer and essential if your skin barrier is in trouble. At some point during the pandemic I purchased a face scrub at Costco and it really jacked up my skin barrier. I’d get into the shower and scrub my face like a nimrod.
Between scrubbing and using Tretinoin (which I love) my barrier needed some major TLC and Skinfix was the perfect solution. With that said, after shipping costs, the refill is just under $50 for a meager 1.7 fl. oz. The La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP + Triple Repair Moisturizing Cream is a ceramide-filled dream coming in at a budget friendly $20 for a whole 13.52 fl. oz.! It also addresses the skin barrier and is very moisturizing. Fantastic product - well done TikTok youth!
But I didn’t stop there…
