The viral ladies of summer!

Happy JULY! Yesterday, I went to my friend’s pool and immediately she was like “girl, what’s your take on ‘looking for a man in finance?’”

I was giving blank stares.

Pamela first yelled at me (appropriate), then took pity on me (also appropriate) and broke down tiktok user Megan Boni aka Girl_On_Couch, describing her as, “funny, young, and effortlessly pretty,” and then she went into the “song” of the summer that has taken off from her post.

Embarrassingly, Megan posted her original video on April 30th.

In truth, I had seen the tiktok, I just wasn’t in full realization that it was the “thing” we were discussing. So much so, that Pamela’s brilliant re-enactment did not even jog my memory. When I later watched the video I was like, “Ohhh! That?”

Please note, I’m not throwing shade at Girl_On_Couch AT ALL #jealous. It’s more likely due to the fact that on any given day my brain is working way too hard to keep up with everything I ask of it. She’s often replacing old information with new information, which feels sad but necessary. So the finance video was watched, but my tired gal deleted the file. In fact, I believe my friend

posted a reaction video on her insta a week or two ago. Pam, I will take all your pity! I still deserve it?

But how do we know Megan’s TikTok has penetrated the mainstream? This important viral moment has my gals Hoda and Jenna entering the chat. I’m going to be real - in all my years working in television, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better lower 3rd than: Hot Trend Alert: “Finance Bros”

My hat is OFF to those Today producer’s who I presume we’re also wildly excited about getting to throw that one out there. Also, Hoda thank you for this segment quote: “Men in finance are apparently hot again.”

I do have some questions. Are ladies in finance also hot rn? Or, Nurse Bros? It’s not even like “The cute bros of finance,” but rather ladies should be thirsty for just any bro with a job in finance? Do accountants count?

Questions aside, I vow to get more (all) trend updates from Hoda and Jenna moving forward, because they are both my speed and my style.

So! How is Megan’s post, which is not a song, the song of the summer? Her original video has since been remixed by everyone, including several music producers like David Guetta, Alesso, Loud Luxury and Billen Ted.

Is Megan getting a piece of this pie? Apparently, she’s signed royalty and publishing deals, and she now has enough TikTok followers to have brand deals.

Not gonna lie, it’s a … bop? (Not sure if we still call songs bops! Do we?)
