Could I be a looksmaxxer?
Happy Friday and happy almost Valentine’s day. Let me be among those to tell you that you are amazing and you matter!
I have never been a huge Olympic watcher, but I am loving the headlines coming out around the Olympics like the ice dancing judging scandal that has American crowds furious, the wives that competed against each other in skeleton, and of course ‘penisgate.’
But, most of all, I am loving all of the American athletes speaking out at the Olympics, talking about LGBTQ+ rights, ICE and mixed feelings about being a representative of the USA. Nothing has felt more American than that!
I wanna spotlight Chloe Kim for just a moment. But in order to do that, we need to start with Hunter Hess.
Hunter was asked at a press conference what it was like to represent the United States in this current climate and Hess responded by saying it “brings up mixed emotions” and was “a little hard.” Both things makes sense to me — and probably for the majority of Americans.
He went on to say:
“There’s obviously a lot going on that I’m not the biggest fan of and think a lot of people aren’t,” Hess said. “If it aligns with my moral values, I feel like I’m representing it. But just because I’m wearing the flag doesn’t mean that I represent everything that’s going on in the U.S.”
But even if you didn’t agree with that sentiment, you likely wouldn’t reply publicly the way the president did.
Donald Trump called U.S. freeski Olympian Hunter Hess “a real Loser.”
“U.S. Olympic Skier, Hunter Hess, a real Loser, says he doesn’t represent his Country in the current Winter Olympics. If that’s the case, he shouldn’t have tried out for the Team, and it’s too bad he’s on it. Very hard to root for someone like this. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Real mature, Weenie.
Hess has his event next week on 2/19 and I plan to root root root for our home team as he free-skis his cute tush off.
So back to Chloe Kim!
USA Snowboarder Chloe Kim, who just grabbed the silver, was specifically asked about how she felt after Trump called Hunter a loser. As a child of immigrants, Chloe shared that events in the US have felt personal and “hit close to home.”
“The US has given my family and me so much opportunity,” she said. “But I also think that we are allowed to voice our opinions about what's going on. And I think we need to lead with love and compassion, and I would like to see some more of that.”
We’d also like to see more of that! Really giving some Benito energy there.
Check out the entire USA female snowboarding team respond here.
I could deep dive into any of the following things that I cant stop thinking about, like Savannah Guthrie’s mom Nancy (seriously what happened here?), how are people with AI companions celebrating Valentine’s Day, or the Epstein files (We Can Do hard Things did a great two-episode breakdown: Part 1 and part 2), but in today’s post something else has my complete and undivided attention. Peptides.
